I don't read for the beauty of language. I
also don't read for literary reasons. I read for the stories. That's it. I read
very quickly. If a book is bogged down by wordiness I skip full paragraphs. That
being said, beginning with June 2005, books that I've completed:
In the Presence of the Enemy by Elizabeth George
The eighth in the
Inspector Lynley Series
Terror in the skies: Why 9/11 Could Happen Again by Annie Jacobsen
Bait and Switch: The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream
by Barbara Ehrenreich
Not as good as the last one, but interesting.
Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston
The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists
by Neil Strauss
The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks
The first in a new
series
Playing for the Ashes by Elizabeth George
The seventh in the
Inspector Lynley Series
Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich
The eleventh in the
Stephanie Plum series
Rage by Jonathan Kellerman
Another Alex Delaware novel
Missing Joseph by Elizabeth George
The sixth in the
Inspector Lynley Series
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
I really tried to read this. I mostly skimmed it. Not a great read or a great story.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling
For the Sake of Elena by Elizabeth George
The fifth in the
Inspector Lynley Series
A Suitable Vengeance by Elizabeth George
The fourth in the
Inspector Lynley Series
Dance of Death by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
The most recent in the Pendergast series.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
In the end, I didn't like this book.
It started well, but really was disappointing.
Well-Schooled in Murder by Elizabeth George
The third in the
Inspector Lynley series
Payment in Blood by Elizabeth George
The second in the
Inspector Lynley series
A Great Deliverance by Elizabeth George
The first in the
Inspector Lynley series.
